Created in August 24, 1970, he started academic work with the programs of Law, Education and Accounting, in the Convento San Joaquin, known as the Convent of San Francisco and from 1980 he moved to Umbria, south of the city of Cali, beautiful headquarters with a campus of 260,200 square meters, with tennis courts, soccer, basketball, volleyball, Olympic swimming pool, parking, modern technological infrastructure and over 85,000 square meters of buildings for the Academy including an extensive library, laboratories high-tech engineering and design workshops, Mac multimedia room, video laboratory, research laboratory, laboratory of creativity, microcomputers and comfortable rooms classrooms.

The park has four smart towers equipped with the most modern technology that allows students to live their entrepreneurship and research processes.

The academic organization of the University are six faculties: Architecture, Art and Design; Economic and Administrative Sciences; Law and political science; Education, Engineering and Psychology, with 16 degree programs.

Likewise it has a wide range of master's degrees, diplomas and specializations in different areas of knowledge, which guarantees its graduates and the general public updated and further progress in different fields of professional development.




The University of the West is an educational institution top private non-profit organization founded in 1970 with influence in southwestern Colombia and the coffee in the departments of Valle of Cauca, Cauca, Nariño, Caldas, Risaralda and Quindio.

The University is an accredited high quality institution, according to Resolution No. 10740 of September 6, 2012 the Ministry of Education. It has 10 accredited programs and three in process
reaccreditation by high quality, granted by the National Council
Accreditation, CNA; and two international certification programs.

The academic organization of the University's five colleges are:

Engineering, Social Communication, Economic and Administrative Sciences, basic Sciences and Humanities, with 20 undergraduate programs, 18 graduate programs and 7 undergraduate technology.

thinking versus rational use of natural resources to build
sustainable cities and regions, from the academic and research environment, It has raised the Sustainable Campus project at the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente. This project aims to articulate and potentiate
academic activities, research and social projection supported
by internal operation, promote commitment and responsibility
environmental and social. In this context the University promotes the development of research projects for the benefit of the environment to decrease
climate change as the theme of renewable energy, efficiency and saving energy and water, and improving local air quality.
